From Outer Space

It's true - I'm back!

I'm not sure how to summarize the trip in a brief way, but rest assured it was awesome. And rest assured that a more detailed breakdown is forthcoming. For now, because this is what I do - how about a viewing of the Euro Animals from the trip?

So, what happens with the blog now? I saved my pennies, and I went on my trip. But it's not over just yet. I have lots of big ticket items to buy, things to covet, food challenges to overcome...

Next time I'll tell you more about the trip!

My bags are all packed, and tomorrow we finally head off on our trip. On Monday when we finally roll into Venice (the official start of the honeymoon, since we're meeting friends in Paris), H. and I will have been married for 10 months. Better late than never, right?

See you in about 17 days or so.

It's happening again

H. and I returned from a rainy weekend in San Francisco about 1am last night, and exhausted from a busy weekend, went straight to bed. Around 5am I heard sirens outside again - similar to the incident a few weeks ago down the street. It was like when the giant appears before Agent Cooper on Twin Peaks and says "it's happening again".

I got out of bed to see what the commotion was, and outside my window were three fire engines. One was pulling away, so I figured it was nothing and went back to bed. By then, I was awake so I had to go to the bathroom, and from the bathroom heard a lot of banging and crashing next door - the apartment adjoining ours, in the building next door. I looked out our kitchen window, and lo-and-behold, our next door neighbor's apartment was on fire! There were ashes flying out the window, and smoke, and firemen were in there with flashlights! And on our roof! Yikes! Scary! Everything here is ok (can't say the same about next door) - though it does smell like smoked Gouda. Now I have a new priority purchase when we come back from the moneymoon - renter's insurance. A fire down the street is one thing, a fire next door is a little too close to home.
