That Mr. Ames Against Time almost made me question why I was doing this. For the first 100 pages or so, I thought the book was some cheesey 1940s murder mystery. Pulp fiction stuff. In fact, what it reminded me of was when, on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Captain Picard used to go into the Holodeck and play in that detective mystery game thing. You know what I'm talking about?
The dialogue was cheesey, and the setting was cheesey, and I was just not into it. But, it was an easy read and I finished it. I was wrong about my first impression of the book, though. Not that I liked it, but I couldn't imagine Captain Picard in the role.
So, now I'm on 30/73 - Margaret Laurence's A Jest of God (1966).
This morning I went to Ikea, so I've been up to no good around the apartment today. Hammering and moving things and whatnot. I'll share some photos of the changes over the next few days!
