Dining rooms

One thing I like to daydream about, is the day when I will have a dining room. And in that dining room, I will have a dining room table. I like to go through eBay and admire all the mid century dining room tables, and watch all the ones I want.

The other day I stumbled on these Thonet bentwood chairs, for a decent price. Now I'm daydreaming that someone will buy them for me.

Available from eBay
Then I can put them in my pretend dining room.

Here's a nice set from Etsy:

If someone goes ahead and buys these for my upcoming birthday, I can start looking around for a table to go with.

But let's be honest - a dining room? We eat at the coffee table like civilized folk.

[sad trombone]

Ugh, my book-reading abilities have really dropped since September. I'm so annoyed. And here's my current to-read list.

womp womp
I need some book-energy. I really want to read all of these. Have you read any of them? Which one should I start with?

(Notice those top two books? Hells yeah, I gloated about it in Twitter already, but H. and L. and I are heading to Iceland and England in March. I'm soooooo excited.)

P.S. If you're on Goodreads, follow me!

I remember going to see Return of the Jedi when I was 4. My family, and my best friend and her mom. I fell asleep, which I did for all movies, and still do for most. My best friend (still my best friend to this day) maintains that she was furious at me, because she was scared and I was asleep.

Anyway. When we moved into our awkward pre-teen years, I moved to Star Trek for my #1 geek obsession, while she chose Star Wars for her #1. I'd say Star Wars was my #2 geek obsession. Quantum Leap #3.

Flash forward! Now I have a kid and it's only right that I force my childhood likes onto him. Let me make something clear, though. Star Wars IV, V and VI only, as those are the only ones I recognize.

So, recently I spotted this print and I said "yes, I want that".

So, yes I secretly bought it and didn't tell H. Well he knows now! Maybe when he's older, I'll put it in the baby's room. Or, I really bought it for myself, which is increasingly likely.

If I do put it in L.'s room, I could also buy this amusing sheet set. Or is that too much? It's too much. But I like the Vader quilt.

It's not like L. is unfamiliar with his parents' childhood amusements already.

If that sheet set were Star Trek, I would already own them. No joke. I guess Star Trek isn't owned by Disney now, though, so they haven't yet hopped on the parental memory lane marketing bandwagon just yet.

I am pretty, pretty into this photo of John & Yoko with Pierre Trudeau. Those were the days - amirite?

Buddies, you are not going to believe this. I am writing this post From MY BED. In my jammies. It's 8:33 PM on a Friday. Jealous? Yeah. My husband is conferencing, my babe is sleeping, my cat is sitting in the other room for no good reason, and I am living it up!

Let's talk about mugs. I like them. They hold my coffee, or my tea, or occasionally my hot chocolate. My parents always had a hodge podge assortment of mugs collected from all over, gifted and whatnot. My best friend's house did too - and hers were more interesting. They had little quirks like ceramic critters at the bottom, that would appear when your hot chocolate got low enough. And we used to fight about who got what mug.

I like how the different mugs all had quirks and stories, and I'm slowly trying to build a collection of mugs with stories. I like to browse Etsy for them - it's a real mug paradise. Here are some faves:

And then obviously, the greatest mug of all. The Queen Bey of mugs:

I'm so sad about that Beyonce mug. I really did want it, and was going to ask H. to get it for me for my impending birthday. Dang. Too sad too bad.

Good news though, the cat has finally come into bed with me so all is right with the world. Besides, you know, H. being out of town.

More French songs

The other day, out of nowhere, another old French children's song popped into my head. Another classic. Le chat angora:

Here's my one issue with this song: how come this "rat" is fat like a mouse? I'm fairly familiar with vermin, living where I do, and in my experience rats are always fatter than mice. Maybe French rats are occasionally petite?
