Snow day!

New York loves a good weather freak out, and yesterday we had a good one. Some weather models predicted 3 feet of snow in Brooklyn! Subways were shut, parks closed, roads cleared, and then! We got about 6 inches.

But the damage was done, and L's daycare was closed so we had a work from home day. This is what working from home looks when you have a 20 month old:

And then there was a lot of this:

my for-real birthday wish list.

It's just over two weeks until my birthday, so an opportune time to share my real birthday wishlist. This was also a chunk of my Christmas wish list, but obviously that didn't turn out... Also didn't get that DSLR camera that's been on my list for about 5 years. Hmpf.

I believe both my parents and my husband have already gotten me other presents for my birthday, and since they are the only ones who buy me presents, I don't actually believe I'll be getting any of these! Oh well, more birthday presents from me to me, I guess.

First up is a bunch of bling. I just typed that blong, and I should have kept it because I was digging it.

Let's start with earrings.

Arc Earrings from TinyArmour

Gold Love Knots from vintagestampjewels

Circle Drop Earrings from Popsicledrum

Brass U Bar earrings from DeuceFashion

Brass Bar Earrings from LauraLombardiJewelry
I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 13 (despite begging), and then I didn't do it until I was 14. Then I went a little crazy and had about 12 holes in my ears. Then I let them close up, and got single holes re-pierced in university, after which I rocked huge chendelier earrings for most of my 20s. Now I haven't really worn earrings much for the last few years, but my interest has been slowly coming back. Alas, I have no classy lady earrings, so I need to build my collection. These are all good candidates.

Now on to more jewels.

Long layered necklace from LandonLacey

One Tiny Gold Letter Stacking ring from esdesigns
I've wanted something with an L for my little L. baby for awhile, and these are rings are simple and sweet.

Outside of the jewelry category, just two things.

Ask Me About My Cat from kinshipgoods
I mean, obviously.

And lastly, I just need this tattood to my forehead:

Introverting mug from BrittanyGarnerDesign
Happy birthday to me!

Somewhere to store your change and your Peptos.

Here's a little something (somethings) I made up before Christmas - little coin purses as stocking stuffers. They were so easy, and are super cute (even if I effed every single one of them up in different ways). Mostly I'm happy with how they turned out.

I used the Lil Cutie Pouch tutorial on Noodlehead.

I even whipped up one for myself:

It's the perfect size for keeping my important purses items in (read: Pepto Bismols and Tylenols 'cause I'm old). It was also a good use of the tons of fabric I've been hoarding. For example, the two fabrics I used in the last pouch are fabrics I bought at Liberty when I was in London in October. I love them so much, but I am afraid of using them because 1) they are so lovely and I don't want to waste them and 2) they were expensive and I don't want to waste them. I also have a habit of buying fat quarters because... just because. This is a perfect project if you are also hoarding fat quarters.

I might make another, slightly bigger, pouch with the Charley Harper cardinal print fabric from Birch that I've been sitting on for a year now.I don't know what use I have for a slightly bigger pouch... iPad warmer? Book protector for your purse? We'll see.

2015

So, where were we? Who were we? I don't even remember, it's been so long.

One of the things I tell myself is not to explain blogging absences. Hey, stuff happens. I have an offline life - and job! I had a blogging identity crisis, to be honest. One, I wanted to cut photos of L., and then I was like "what do I have?" I used to write about junk I wanted to buy, but lately I am trying not to buy, and also I am self-conscious of coming across as some kind of shill. I'm so bored of blogs being all "BUY THIS LIFESTYLE #sponsoredpost" you know what I mean? And I'm even more bored of blogs that are like "Please sponsor me!!". I don't want to go there.

So what have I got to offer? Nothing, to be honest. Just random thoughts on the internet and pictures of my cat.

But let's just rundown the last few months, in case you were wondering.

1. I accomplished ZERO of my 2014 goals. Not one. Ouch. Best to get it out there, though. Fail. More on that later.

2. We traveled a bit. Another trip to London, a visit to DC, to Toronto and to Pennsylvania. If you're still counting, L.'s flight count is now at 18. 18 for 18 months.

3. I have been sick since about mid-November. Not even a joke. I had a stomach bug on Thanksgiving weekend, the flu, another stomach bug, and now I have a killer cold & cough. I really need to get my immune system in order. That's a semi-goal for this year, I guess.

That's all. See, you didn't miss much.

And now it's 2015. Should I even set public goals, if I couldn't even make ONE of the 2014 goals? Sure, why not. Why the hell not.

First, let's try again at a couple of the ol' 2014 goals:

1. Get a driver's license.

2. Write 100 bloggy whispers.

3. Get back into making work lunches - 4 days a week. Baby needs a new pair of shoes and buying lunch every day is expensive.

Well, let's just keep it simple right there. There are other things I'd like to accomplish, but baby steps.

Ok, that's it. Either I'll get back on the blog train or this thing will die. Wish me luck.

Solidarity.
